The International Bank Note Society (IBNS) announced that the winner of the “Bank Note of the Year Award” for 2020 is the 100 Mexican peso bill issued and printed by Banco de México.
The $100 bill, launched last year as part of the ‘G Family’ of new Mexican banknotes (Learn more about the design here), competed with 24 other tickets including those from England, Lebanon, Indonesia, and Ukraine.
The winner was selected based on 3 characteristics: Artistic Merit, Imaginative Design, and New Security Features.
According to IBNS, almost from the start, Mexico’s polymer bill widely led the voting of its approximately 2000 members worldwide, followed by Scotland’s Royal Bank of Scotland 20 Pound entry.
