Super Bowl 2019 commercials empowering women!

This year’s Super Bowl LIII gave the Patriots its 6th championship by beating Rams 13-3, making history as the lowest Super Bowl scoring ever. But what also made history were the women starring in the commercials and the brands targeting female football fans with commercials that promoted products different than cleaning products (sorry sexy Mr. Clean).

Why is this important? Because only 23% of previous Super Bowl ads featured women, while the rest of commercials tended to target men even though 45% percent of the NFL fan base are women. This represents another step towards the reduction of social categorization and stereotyping.

Here are my top picks of this year’s Super Bowl commercials, including Olay’s and Bumble’s first big game ads, Sarah Jessica Parker and Zoe Kravitz drinking beer, Cardi B enjoying a Pepsi, and Toni Harris staring a Toyota’s commercial (Harris is the first female football player to receive a scholarship offer at a skilled position).
